The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Lagos, has nullified the election victory of Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party as the duly elected representative for Eti Osa Federal Constituency.
Recall that that INEC declared Attah of the LP as the winner of the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Thaddeus Attah polled 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 18,666 votes, and Babajide Obanikoro of the APC, who had 16, 901 votes
However, in a late night judgment delivered on Monday tribunal ruled that the elections were inconclusive and ordered INEC to conduct a supplementary election within 90 days in all polling units where voting did not take place.
Reacting to the ruling on Tuesday, Attah of the LP via his X page said there was no cause for alarm, Stating that he was not sacked by the court.
He said, “I am here to clarify that I was not sacked. The Tribunal has simply ordered a re-run (supplementary election) in the 32 polling units where elections did not hold. We will continue working for Eti-osa. I urge constituents to keep calm as we are unshaken. We will get through this together”.
Also reacting to this, the APC candidate via his Instagram page hailed the judges “for this ruling which adheres to the components of the Constitution.”
According to him, “it was all smiles at the tribunal court when it was confirmed that there would be a supplementary election in several polling units under the Eti-Osa Federal constituency where the election did not take place. I believe that our justice system is on the right track and I praise the judges for this ruling which adheres to the components of the Constitution. Work starts now.”
Nigerian singer turned politician, Banky W via his X page on Monday night wrote, “It is possible. Still.”
