Two kidnapped Catholic priests in Edo regain freedom

The two Catholic priests that were kidnapped on Saturday, July 2, along the Benin Epoma expressway, regained freedom in the early hour of Tuesday.

The Edo State Police command confirmed the release of the two priests, Rev. Father Udo Peter and Rev Father Philemon Oboh, OSJ.

Wakadaily earlier reported that Another two Catholic priests, Fr Udo Peter and Fr Philemon Oboh, OSJ have Reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen on Saturday in Edo State.

Following their release, the two Catholic priests, immediately after their release on Tuesday morning paid a thank you visit on Wednesday to the Edo state Acting Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu who commended the state Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro over his men’s gallantry in rescuing the two men of God.

The State police command spokesman Chidi Nwanbuzor said the rescue of the two priests was communicated to the state command by the Ugboha divisional police officer (DPO) who immediately sent a signal to CP.
