This follows the trend of Nigerian Gospel singers choosing to marry partners from outside of Nigeria. The trend began when Tim Godfrey proposed to his American fiancée, Erica, on April 23, 2022. They subsequently got married in both traditional and official ceremonies and have recently become parents to their first child.

Earlier this year, Moses Bliss gained attention when he revealed that he was engaged to a woman from Ghana. He emphasized that God has a way of making things beautiful in His own timing, and he shared pictures from the proposal. In March, social media was captivated by their love story as they celebrated their union in a three-part wedding ceremony. The couple first made their marriage official with a court wedding in Abuja. They then proceeded to have a traditional marriage ceremony in Ghana, and finally, they had a grand white wedding shortly after.

Ebukasong, inspired by someone else, shared in a widely shared post on Valentine’s Day that he had finally found his perfect match. He revealed that he had met this woman while walking on the streets of the UK.

In addition, Theophilus Sunday surprised many by revealing his engagement to Ashlee White, a woman from Jamaica.

In response to this, Reno Omokri, a former media aide, expressed his thoughts on the marriage. He explained why Moses Bliss chose to marry a Ghanaian woman instead of a Nigerian woman.

Omokri pointed out that many Nigerian women tend to prioritize material possessions and would only be interested in a man who can financially support them. He also mentioned that if Nigerian men had easy access to women from other countries, a significant number of them would choose to marry outside Nigeria.

Additionally, Omokri warned that there would be a rise in the number of single, unmarried Nigerian women if Nigerian men had the opportunity to easily pursue relationships with women from other countries.
