The current Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has been nominated as the Vice President candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), 2023 general election.
The committee recommended governor Wike as the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, running mate in a meeting held at the national headquarters of the PDP in Abuja, on Tuesday. cast votes to decide a running mate. Majority of the party’s members voted for Wike over the Akwa Ibom State governor, at the end Mr Wike scored 16 votes to defeat Mr Okowa who scored 3 votes.
The Gusau-committee had recommended the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel for consideration.
WAKADAILY gathered that, Atiku had defeated Wike at the party’s president primary which held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Saturday night in Abuja. Atiku polled 371 votes while Wike scored 237 votes.
