Ekiti govt drags Chef Dammy’s pastor to court, demands N10m

The Directorate of Citizens Rights (DCR) from the Ministry of Justice in Ekiti State has dragged pastor Jeremiah Adegoke and the Ekiti State Police command to court.

The state government filled the lawsuit on behalf of  Damilola Adeparusi, better known as Chef Dammy over alleged infringement of her rights.

The DCR also asked the court to restrain Mr Adegoke and the police from arresting Chef Dammy and that a N10 million compensation be paid for aggravated damages to the student chef.

Chef Dammy rose to fame after participating in a cooking marathon to break the Guinness World Records, organized by the said pastor.

However, their relationship became strained, primarily coming from financial disagreements.

The controversy between the chef and her pastor started early October when the 300-level mass communication student raised the alarm of being threatened and bullied, adding that her pastor aka prophet Bullion dollars should be held responsible if anything happens to her.

Following chef Dammy’s public outcry, the pastor slammed her with N20,000 million lawsuit, also demands that Dammy retracts the statements she has made, as he firmly believes that his character has been seriously damaged due to her allegations.

The once-spiritual father gave Chef Dammy seven days to comply with the demands or risk being sued.

However, in a recent lawsuit filed by DCR on 24th November, Chef Dammy was named as the applicant, Mr Adegoke and Ajewole Samuel, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17 Akure, were named respondents.

The lawsuit seeks a declaration that the continued harassment, molestation, threat of arrest, and intimidation by the pastor, allied with Mr Samuel and the Nigerian police, infringes on the applicant’s fundamental human rights.

CDR  further demands a restraining order preventing Chef Dammy’s arrest and seeks a compensation of N10 million for aggravation and damages.
