The power of constant electricity

There is something that constant electricity does to you. . .it calms you down. It puts everything under your control.

If there is heat, you can use an AC; if the weather is cold, you can get house heater. If you are busy, you can cook during weekends and keep in the freezer and use microwave to warm them when you want to eat. Hotels won’t be looking for diesel. You can buy electric sewing machine and improve in your fashion and design work. You won’t be seen carrying chargers and phones everywhere you go, and you won’t suffer from the noise pollution that comes with generators.

Let me give you a scenario, many of you will connect with this.

There is always a particular house or spot people use in checking if there will be electricity in their houses. Let’s say you are coming back from work, at the sight of a shining bulb in that house, you begin to smile because it means there will be electricity in your house.

Imagine what that does to you? It gives you peace. It calms you. You become enthusiastic to go home.

Many people don’t stay in their houses simply because there is no electricity. Lack of electricity contributes to why there is usually no peace at home and why there are lots of people at the bar or viewing centers.

Some of you don’t know the reason you are always aggressive or why you can’t settle down and talk gently. Some of you don’t know why you keep insulting people as you drive on the road. Some of you are not looking fresh and don’t sleep properly. It is not a witch from the village.

An uninterrupted power for one year can just change your life.

See the way your Govt reduced you. The moment you see electricity, you will jump in excitement like kids. You start charging all the ‘chargeables’ and ironing all the ‘ironables’.

Your government is killing you. Electricity is not luxury. A government that can’t give you electricity is a dead government.

Check the major importers of generators, they are those in power. Since I came to the Gambia, I have not seen a single generator. I even went to their electronic shops, the once I visited, had no generators.

Are you not tired of putting on gen?
Are you not tired of looking for someone to service the gen and change oil?
Are you not tired of the noise?
Are you not tired of carrying power banks around like Mgbeke?

If small Gambia can do it, why can’t you?
Why do you take pleasure in suffering?
Why are you burning generators to charge your phone only to still use the phone to support those that put you in darkness?
Why are you taking side with your oppressors?
Suffer-suffer no dey do you?
Why you?
Why not the children of those politicians?
Why not Buhari’s children?
Why must it always be your head that they will use?
Why are you allowing your innocent neck to be carrying such head around?
Why?
Why always you? Why?
