Bella Shmurda draws upon his feelings for his latest EP ‘R2 Sept 12’

Bella Shmurda has dropped a fresh EP in anticipation of his upcoming album.

The EP tells the story of Bella Shmurda’s emotional experience after the passing of his dear friend Mohbad on September 12, 2023.

The EP explores the significant effect of this loss and explores the various emotions experienced during the grieving process, including sadness, anger, and acceptance.

Bella Shmurda uses his music to reveal his innermost thoughts and feelings, addressing his weaknesses and finding solace in expressing his emotions in a way that others can relate to. R2 Sept 12 delves deep into Bella Shmurda’s emotional state, with songs like ‘Feelings’ showcasing the intense pain of heartbreak, and ‘Loner’ transforming into a strong declaration of self-dependence.

In 1999, Bella Shmurda and Bloody Civilian come together to chase their dreams that they have nurtured since they were young. The song ‘Oghene’ featuring Zlatan and Jeriq adds a strong sense of spirituality to the project, displaying their faith and appreciation.

The EP ends with ‘My Brother,’ a heartfelt tribute to Bella Shmurda’s late friend, Mohbad. Bella Shmurda puts his emotions into the song, treasuring the moments they shared and promising to honor Mohbad’s spirit by continuing to make music.

‘R2 Sept 12’ demonstrates Bella Shmurda’s talent for transforming intense emotions into profoundly impactful music. This EP serves as a preview for his forthcoming album, scheduled to be released on September 12, 2024.

The album holds significant importance as it coincides with the first anniversary of the tragic loss of street hop star Mohbad. Bella Shmurda has been a strong advocate for the Afrobeats movement, even amidst attempts by certain artists to distance themselves from the genre. His upcoming album is anticipated to solidify Mohbad’s legacy in Nigerian music history.
