Baba Fryo, an experienced Nigerian singer, acknowledges that Burna Boy may have a wild personality, but he handles his music career in an organized manner.
During an interview on the ‘Hoha’ podcast, the singer of the hit song ‘Denge Pose’ praised Burna Boy for consistently acknowledging the sources of his inspiration.
However, Baba Fryo blasted Ruger for not giving him credit despite imitating his style of wearing an eyepatch.
He also expressed disappointment in Bella Shmurda for using his song without giving him proper recognition.
“Ruger didn’t take permission from me before copying my style of using eyepatch. There was a time I came across his interview on Facebook and he was claiming an incident involving him and a soldier inspired him. I was disappointed. I soliloquized, ‘Africa! Black people will never give credit to whom it is due.’
“A lot of people said Burna Boy is crazy but Burna Boy mentioned ‘Denge Pose’ [in his song] and he mentioned my name. He understood the reason behind bringing up my name, despite being labeled as crazy by others. They refer to him as an outsider, but he consistently acts in a morally correct manner.
“When Adekunle Gold wanted to sample my song, his team reached out to me and I gave them permission. But some of this new generation artists, they believe that once they hit stardom, the legends before they who created the ideas they are tapping from, they wouldn’t want to say the truth so that the legends won’t benefit from their shines.”
