The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who also served as the former governor of Lagos State, has stated the reason why he chooses Kashim Ibrahim Shettima, the former governor of Borno State, as his running mate for the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu in a closed-door meeting with president Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura home in Katsina State. While explaining why he chose Shettima as running mate, “I chose him because he is competent, capable and reliable.”
Wakadaily reported that while Tinubu was picking a Vice President, he never had religion in mind, he picked based on competence and capability.
Speaking on his visit in Daura he said “We came to pay homage to him (Buhari) and to share part of his holiday and lunch. And to discuss the question of my substantive running mate .
“The one we put in as placement has withdrawn today. There has been an announcement to replace him fully with a substantive candidate, Kashim Shettima.”
